Summer Skincare
During the summer, all of us are outside and in the sun. It is inevitable! The sun may give us that nice tan glow but we need to protect our skin. You want to have youthful skin as long as you can and to ensure that you do, you have to take good care of it. So whether you have a vacation coming up or you are simply planinng on spending time in the sunshine, we’ve got you covered! Here are some basic steps you need to follow to help your skin be protected and be able to recover.
SUNSCREEN:
Apply sunscreen with at least a SPF 30 in it every day to your face, neck, arms and hands. Make sure to apply it thrity minutes before you go out in the sun. That is how long it takes the sunscreen to soak into your skin and work effectively. You should apply at least 1 ounce of sunscreen to your entire body. Always remember to reapply your sunscreen every two hours or after swimming/exercising.
Benefits: Sunscreen has anti-aging properties in it and who doesn’t want that?! It also protects from damaging UV-rays. We want that protection because those rays can lead to skin cancer.
HYDRATE:
During this summer, you want to be constantly hydrating with water. Dehydration makes for more visible lines and wrinkles. You need to drink at least 64 ounces of water a day. Try drinking an 8 ounce glass of water every two hours. During the summer, we tend to be so busy that we forget to hydrate. We need to always keep hydrated so that we don’t faint in this heat and our skin also needs the water to stay hydrated.
Benefits: Smooth skin and healthier body. Helps eliminate toxins in our body.
EXFOLIATE:
Our pores look more obvious during the summer. This is because of the humid, hot weather. To avoid this, add an extra exfoliation each week to minimize the appearance of your pores. Choose a day during the week and consistently exfoliate on that day each week.
Benefit: This will reduce the size of your pores and eliminate any dry, dead skin.
MOISTURIZE:
After a long day out in the sun, it is important that you moisturize your face and body. Apply a lotion to your face and body every morning and before you go to bed.
Benefit: This allows for your skin to recover and gain moisture. This helps you not have dry and crackled skin. The sun is damaging so the moisture will help it recover.
