How to Dress Your Best for Less
Whenever finances are tight, we all begin thinking about ways that we can cut back on spending and make what we have last longer. Clothing is no exception. Purchasing all of the latest trends may not be an option for us this year. Instead, we must begin to focus on maximizing our current closet.
The other day Shelbi and I were cleaning out a closet for one of our wonderful clients. She had previously told us that she was not planning on shopping this fall. Rather, she just wanted us to help her use the clothing that she already had. We spent three hours making outfits out of her existing wardrobe. We ended up creating over 35 fabulous outfits that were both cute and current (and it was not a huge closet)! Even more amazingly, we had so much fun creating outfits that were comprised of pieces that she had never thought to put together. It was like going shopping in her own closet, and we found a great way to utilize many garments that she had never found a way to wear.
We also made certain that every outfit was perfectly coordinated with accessories, handbags, shoes, and undergarments. When we were finished with our outfit creations, we made a small and optional fall shopping list that could be purchased for about $200.
Not only was our client able to minimize the cost of creating a fall wardrobe by utilizing the pieces that she already had, but she has never felt better about her closet. Her closet is now organized and coordinated to perfection so that she can dress with ease.
