Is Your Closet Ready for Spring?
The last year our wardrobes have sat idle because of the pandemic. We have been wearing the 20 percent of our wardrobe that is leisurewear or athletic wear. Hopefully our lives are becoming more social as more of us receive our vaccines. I am one of the lucky ones that have received both shots so I feel more comfortable venturing out. When you are ready to re-enter the world and want to look fabulous you will probably view your wardrobe a little differently. From past experience, I highly recommend you start trying on the clothes hanging in your closet to see how they fit now. Have you gained or lost a few pounds? Do some of the clothes look tired or dated? Do NOT assume that your clothes will bring you joy the way they did a year ago. Start trying everything on and look in the mirror. Do you LOVE your appearance? If you do not love how a garment looks, then it is time to retire it. That is actually a good thing. Your wardrobe probably needs to go on a diet: meaning you do not need all the clutter in your closet. Remember the book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up? Does each item in your wardrobe bring you JOY? You can also say to each garment “Can you justify your existence to remain in my wardrobe?” I am a big believer in sustainability, especially in clothing. There are lots of people that would love to wear your retired clothes. They will not be going to waste. Plan to wear every garment in your wardrobe numerous times. I say “Get your cost-per-wear really low.” If you love it, you will want to wear it often. It is not fashionable to wear a new outfit every time you walk out your door. Your friends will appreciate you if you take sustainability seriously and buy what you love and wear it often. If you think that looking at your wardrobe by yourself is too traumatic, I would be happy to assist you? I will look at your wardrobe without emotion and give you an objective opinion. If you have had a color analysis, call to set up an appointment for me to visit your closet. If you have no idea what your flattering colors are make an appointment for a color analysis so your wardrobe reflects your best self. Don’t procrastinate. Feel fabulous every time you walk out the door as you re-enter the world. 817-924-8300 |
