GRAMMY 2012 Fashion
It’s always fun to watch the Grammys and see a wide spectrum of fashion. From stunning to downright blatant costume party faux fashion blunders, there were a lot of hit and misses in 2012. From stunning to tragically ugly the stars ran the gamut this year. For the Grammy Awards everything is over the top, statement making style. What did you think??
For me, Carrie Underwood stole the show. With her beautiful, long Gomez-Garcia gown, Carrie looked both elegant and sexy. She is known for her understated elegance and she certainly looked the part this year! With embroidered sequins, romantic up-swept hair and dangling earrings Carrie looked fabulous! It’s hard to tell from the photo but her gown is actually backless, adding a spicy sexiness to her elegant look. With a contoured form- fitting silhouette this dress complimented her trim figure. She simply sparkled with a genuine smile and head turning beauty, Carrie stole the show. Way to go Carrie!
Adele rocked a demure look with her Giorgio Armani black gown. I feel her neckline did not do her justice. She needed an open v-neck to elongate her neck. The boat-neck neckline simply made her neck look too short. Also the sleeve length would have been better for her figure, a bit shorter or longer, this mid-length cut hit her right on the hips adding inches instead of slimming. Her hair rocked a 20’s pin curl vibe and the red lipstick echoed a 20’s tone.
Fergie wore a decidedly statement making dress. I know sheer is in this year but did we really need a dress this sheer?? I feel this dress was a decided “miss” in this year’s fashion. We could see straight through to her black bra and high waist panties. Not attractive. The dress was by Jean Paul Gaultier, a delightful tangerine color by itself, but I wonder if the designer meant it to be paired with a black bra and briefs. I would venture to guess not so much!
On the men’s side of the equation, Bruno Mars arrived looking particularly stylish and suave with his grey suit and fun shades. I can’t tell completely from the picture but it looks like he is sporting a Ray-Ban clubmaster. What a snazzy pair of shades!
Katy Perry arrived in a delightful blue dress with hair to match. I think she would have looked fabulous with her natural hair color and soft curls instead of a blue buffont.
Nicki Minaj wore a red… well I’m honestly not even sure how to describe it… other than simply a Halloween looking costume. It was a beautiful color… and yeah that’s all I’m going to say. See for yourself, because my mom always said, “if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say anything at all…” But really, what was she thinking?!!!
The Band Perry looked edgy and dapper in their all black and white ensemble. Great look, flattering, and although I would have loved to see a pop of color in Kimberly Perry’s necklace, she looked elegant nonetheless.
Taylor Swift looked stunning in her Zuhair Murad gown of embroidered silk. The mermaid train was elegant and spoke of understated opulence. Loved it. I also like the two tone dimension to her dress. It is not simply a nude colored gown, but one with texture and gold designs for added pop. Nice move, Taylor.
There are so many others I could comment on but these are some of the best and worst. What do you think?
