It’s hard to believe that fall is right around the corner. With cooler temperatures offering a bit of relief, it’s time to take a hard look at your closet and make way for sweaters, jeans and all those lovely jackets and scarves you have been wistfully longing for all summer.
This time of year is the perfect time to have your housecleaner take a little extra time to dust and vacuum all those hard to reach nooks and crannies of your closet. Be sure they dust all the shelves and even all around your shoes and purses. Remove everything from the floor and give it a thorough vacuum. This is the best time to get rid of dust. Spiders love to hide in dark, dusty areas so be sure your closet is dusted thoroughly. Pick up a fall-scented sachet and hang one in your closet to freshen and usher in the new season.
Remove old and unsightly dry cleaning bags to let your clothes air out. Take inventory of your shoes and drop off any that need a good polish or sole repair to your favorite trusted shoe repair company.

Plus, if you find a pretty box in your favorite neutral color, your closet will have a nice, cohesive look that just beckons you to stay organized! Before you know it, your closet will look like something out of a magazine instead of an overwhelming mess!

Arrange shoes by color and style. Start with your tallest shoes such as pumps and heels and work down to flats, grouping each style and color together.
Make your space cozy and inviting. If you have space, keep a small stool accessible so you can sit down to put on your shoes. Add a throw rug keep your favorite lipstick handy for those last minute touch ups . A full length mirror is helpful to check your outfit before heading out the door.
Next, it’s time to tackle your clothes. This is the perfect time to go through, organize and discard any items that are becoming well-worn. If you have items that are still in excellent shape but for whatever reason are the wrong size or style, it’s time to purge and donate these items or take to a resale store. Remember, most of us have too many clothes! Don’t be afraid to pare down your closet. Less is more! Keep clothing items that fit your body shape and style and are in your color palette.
